Carmelo Anthony Traded to Oklahoma City Thunder
This has been a wild offseason for the NBA with stars like Chris Paul, Paul George, Jimmy Butler, Kyrie Irving, Isaiah Thomas and now, Carmelo Anthony all switching teams. A few days ago the Knicks traded away the veteran for Enes Kanter, Doug McDermott and a 2nd round pick.
This trade changes up the Western Conference significantly. This now gives reigning MVP, Russell Westbrook, yet another weapon after having a lack of support system with last year’s team. Melo will space out the floor so Westbrook can drive to the lane easily, as well as take some of the scoring load so Andre Roberson can focus on defense. While I don’t think it’ll happen, the Thunder are now, at least on paper, the leading contender to take down the Golden State empire in the West. Personally, I think having a strong bench is key in making a playoff run, but the Thunder have one of the strongest starting lineups in the NBA nonetheless.
